Strategy Document of NHF (2010)
Vision (ยง 2 Purpose of the NHF statutes)
The Association shall promote Hydrology as a science, strive for improved understanding of Hydrology and the practical application of hydrological methods within applied science and national planning in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The Association shall also support international cooperation within Hydrology.
Long term goals
- To strengthen NHF as an active and attractive forum for Nordic hydrologists, that covers the whole hydrological cycle.
- To promote the exchange of information between the scientific communities.
- To inform administrative bodies, the private sector and the public about the importance of hydrological knowledge.
Short term goals
- Increasing the number of members.
- Giving the members more value for their membership fee.
- Increasing the activity level of NHF.
Activities
For the period 2010-2014 the following activities are relevant:
1. Development of web pages continues
- Updates on conferences, research projects, national services etc.
- Promotion of networking
- Link services for access to real time hydrological data, reports on recent events, special fields of hydrology etc.
2. Nordic Hydrological Conference
- Choice of main themes
- Encouraging students
- Up-to-date contents
3. Other activities
- Additional seminars and courses in between the biannual conferences, especially to initiate project cooperation
- Project initializing, coordination and/or participation especially in national level
- Co-operation with other organizations (EGU, IAHS, the Stockholm Water Week etc.)
- Publishing (developing Hydrology Research together with BHS and IWA, developing pedagogic hydrological information to the public etc.)
- Marketing of NHF (other conferences, bilateral linking agreements etc.)
- Keeping the flyer about the aims and benefits of NHF up-to-date
- Revision of the statutes and approval of them
